The Greenbelt is supported and maintained through a cooperative effort between several local municipalities, state and federal agencies, and neighboring residents. The Capital Area Greenbelt Association was formed as an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to act as a liaison between all concerned parties, and to organize and plan the continued stewardship of the Capital Area Greenbelt trail. CAGA was formed on the premise that users of public lands can and should accept some responsibility for taking care of “their” lands, and this can best be accomplished by organizing volunteers to form long term partnerships with government agencies.
